Spent much of last night digging out the VHS-C tapes of kittypr0n raw footage. Sometimes, you gotta go back to the source.

Monday, 9 April 2012 (deeper and broader)
1:50pm

Sent off the rest of my items for the "Best Of." The editor has really liked them so far, so hopefully I can parlay it into more writing work with them. Or even with someone else, for that matter.

The Pony season finale screener arrived, and it was most certainly not a stealth way of sending me a cease-and-desist letter. The Hub person also confirmed that they were not the one who sent me the other DVD, but that they'd have their people ask other people's people. The mystery is spreading!

Sunday, 8 April 2012 (the standard is inhibited)
2:12pm

Working at Marta's, after a much better Sunday morning than last week. It's Easter, but we're giving the Dolores Park and all its attendant madness a wide berth today.

sometime after midnight

A typically disappointing Easter turnout at Bad Movie Night for Black Belt Jones, a movie which really deserved better on many levels.

Saturday, 7 April 2012 (authority from consensus)
11:41am

A story which has been bouncing around for over a year now has finally found a home, in an anthology of transgender short fiction. It's also going to be in Meet on the Ledge, because of course it is.

2:12pm

The My Little Pony DVD which was mailed to me at the weekly's office last week has finally been forwarded along. It's the standard retail Friendship Express DVD, but unfortunately my editor threw away the original envelope and doesn't remember who it was from, so the original sender is a mystery. Weird.

Heading out now to pick up Marta and drive south for a while to have dinner with Mustang and Thendara, for the first time since last November. It's been a while, but I think it's also been a while since we've had dinner with Davina and Mouse, and they live a lot closer. Being social is hard!

sometime after midnight

That went well, and I got to try a vac-bed, which I've always wanted to do and which Mustang and Thendara were more than happy to facilitate. And it's another chapter for Meet on the Ledge, which is shaping up to have less filler than I'd orginally feared it might.

Friday, 6 April 2012 (exploiting a strength)
9:11pm

Worked from home this morning, went over to Marta's in the afternoon and continued working, we had dinner at Kiki, and returned to her place, where I received an email from an out-of-town cis queer girl who listened to my once oh-so-controversial Lesbian Podcast interview and wondered if I had any ideas where she could meet trans women to date. I get treated as an expert in the strangest things.

Thursday, 5 April 2012 (sheer and very high)
10:36am

I will soon have a pile of cat books waiting for me at the library, purely for research purposes.

1:31pm

Since it's been two weeks and the card hasn't arrived yet, I wrote my CalFresh case worker and fellow six-sixteener to confirm that I'm not behind on paperwork or anything. She assured me that I'm not behind on my paperwork, the cards just sometimes take forever to arrive, and by the way she's not my case worker anymore so please don't write her again. So much for Gemini solidarity.

10:12pm

Just got back from an earlyish night at KrOB's, watching the Jerry Lewis movie The Geisha Boy. He invited me to go to see The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover with him at the Castro afterward, and I was tempted, but I decided to err (as I so often will, for better or worse) on the side of getting some sleep tonight so I can get work done tomorrow morning.

Wednesday, 4 April 2012 (rest your aching limbs a little bit)
8:59am

My recap of episodes 17 and 18 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is now up. It's a body of work which will amount to something eventually.

1:29pm

This, I did not expect: the communications and publicity manager for The Hub (the network Pony is on) just wrote to thank me for the love I've been giving the show, and to ask for my mailing address so they can send me a screener of the Season 2 finale. (Maybe that's what was also mailed to me at the weekly's office? Whatever that is, it hasn't been forwarded to me yet.) I've been a little worried about possible IP infringement issues, since I use a lot of screenshots and the occasional video clip, but I guess it's safe to say that it's not a problem. They're directly encouraged me to keep it up, and let me know if I need any additional artwork or clips. If this is all just a ruse to get my address to send me a cease-and-desist letter, it's roundabout at best.

4:22pm

Also not expected: I did not get the internship. I really thought I'd nailed the interview, but apprently not, or at least not enough. I'm also well aware of the mistakes I did make in the phone interview, but there's no way to know why I didn't get it, so I'm not going to beat myself up or do any second-guessing. There's no point, no point at all. Instead, I'll apply again next year when I have more experience, not to mention when I'll actually be able to get class credit for it. In the meantime, more time to write this summer! It's also far less wear and tear on Phoebe, what with not having to drive sixtyish miles round trip every day. How I'll make a living is another issue entirely, but who knows, that might be where the two new book ideas come in. They're only at the proposal stage, but the proposal is what publishers purchase. Not to mention Meet on the Ledge, which I've neglected the past couple weeks in favor of things with actual, imminent deadlines. Like schoolwork.

For now, however, I go to the class at the Y. I have some disappointment to sweat out of my system.

6:59pm

The instructor today was not the woman from the last few times I've taken the class, but the fellow who was teaching bootcamp when I last went a million years ago. Just a one-off, I hope. Nice enough guy, but I am terribly sexist and don't like male exercise instructors who are under fifty. I miss Damiel's abs class. I'm told it still happens at six on Monday mornings, which is tricky at best for me.

Tuesday, 3 April 2012 (can't touch the restless sky)
8:18am

My Agent just suggested another non-memoir book idea, one that's just crazy enough to work—and, more importantly, sell. Meanwhile, Bottomfeeder and Landing on Water continue to rack up the rejections, which might be a sign.

2:02pm

My journey through old Video Zone employee favorites on the weekly continues today with continues today with a writeup of The Last Party. Two articles this week, yay! Though they'll still only go up once a week, I've also been working ahead on the Pony recaps so I won't have to work on them during finals weeks in school. Dig me, I'm strategizing!

Monday, 2 April 2012 (the night is beckoning)
2:42pm

Went to the Cardio Sculpt class at the Y this afternoon, and I intend to make it back for Bodyworks on Wednesday. My skirt has been started to get tight around the waist again, and that is not okay.

There's been some talk about going to Death Guild tonight—it's Elder Goth Appreciation Night, and I do qualify—but I'm going to err on the side of getting a good night's sleep tonight so I can get up at six and be working by eight. I've actually been quite good at that. Besides, squidtightening is happening tonight, so that's enough adventure. It'll also be the first time that I haven't done any reblondification prior to squidtightening, since it is no longer primarily blond. I had a good long wrong with light hair (though that "more fun" thing didn't really happen at all), but I'm happy to be going dark again.

8:04pm

The squid is tightened.

Sunday, 1 April 2012 (seen that hope before)
2:02pm

Lunch at Sunrise Deli and Cafe in the Sunset, not to be confused with Sun Rise Restaurant in the Mission. Kinda prefer the latter, I must admit.

sometime after midnight

Great, boisterous turnout at Bad Movie Night for Enter the Dragon. (Barefoot had originally hoped to be in town for it, but the plans fell through, as tends to happen.) Unfortunately, one of the hosts was a bit too reverential of Bruce Lee and Kung Fu, spending too much time going on about how awesome he was and too little time making jokes. Oh well. My bad on the scheduling front.
