Friday, 30 November 2012 (journey through the past)
12:47pm

I've been invited to vote in the 2012 Village Voice / L.A. Weekly Film Critics' Poll. Neat.

2:33pm

Off to meet Marta in the Castro for our couples therapy intake interview. I am, of course, terrified.

5:21pm

It went well, as these things go.

sometime after midnight

Damn.

Thursday, 29 November 2012 (tonight's the night)
5:42pm

Staying in this evening to work on the big final paper for my research class. It's more done than not done, and it's due a week from this Sunday, but I'm not taking any chances.

Wednesday, 28 November 2012 (world on a string)
10:10am

It's gray and stormy and generally ugly out, with some expectations of flooding. Good thing I don't have anywhere to be today.

Tuesday, 27 November 2012 (out on the weekend)
12:03pm

I have a piece in the Night + Day section of the print version of the weekly, as well as a new review up on the Voice for a movie called New Jersuaslem. The film editor also just gave me two more movie to review. If it keeps up at this rate, I might actually make enough to pay rent in December!

9:10am

Lots of howling from the neighbor's dog. They swear that they left the door open the dog could go inside and thus not feel stranded outside (which is what supposedly leads to the howling), but they also filled the recycling bin this morning with a cardboard box that they didn't bother to break down, so I'm skeptical at best.

12:26pm

On the plus side, the howling gave me an entry point for my intake session with The Nice Lady this morning. Actually, it was less an "intake" and more a "catching up." And there is indeed a lot of catching up to do.

1:47pm

It's been a couple weeks since the new James Bond movie came out and I had to do some pestering for this to finally go live, but a thing I wrote for the weekly looking back at Mad Magazine's Bond parodies is finally up, yay. Better late than not.

Monday, 26 November 2012 (yonder stands the sinner)
2:25pm

I'm writing a review for The Village Voice of a movie by a director who not only tends to respond personally to bad reviews, but also to good reviews that he thinks are poorly written. This may not end well.

Not a great turnout at Bad Movie Night for Rock of Ages. Many more people were at Lincoln last night, and it was a much better film.

5:57pm

Dinner at Kyoto Sushi before we go see Lincoln. I don't know what's possessed us that we're going to see a new movie in the theater on a holiday weekend, but we're doin' it.

Having I hope is now our traditional day-after-Thanksgiving breakfast at Fox & Goose Public House and Restaurant. The rarebit is perhaps not as revealtory as it had been last year, but I suppose that's to be expected.

12:46pm

And for lunch as we return to San Francisco, road tacos at Taqueria La Fiesta in Novato. It's astonishing how much effort Marta and I put into finding just the right Mexican food while we're traveling.

An mellow, stress-free Thanksgiving, as it should be.

8:42pm

We made it to Sacramento in record time, got all our shopping done, and have settled in for the next couple days. We're currently watching the restored Jaws on Blu-ray. Marta's never seen it, and she's jumping at all right moments. The classics, they never die.

Also, another piece in the Night + Day section of the print version, about a reading at the library.
