Sunday, 31 January 2010 (over and out) 9:53pm At The Dark Room. I like nights like this where I don't actually have to be on mic, especially for a movie like Terminator Salvation. It's a nice break.
Saturday, 30 January 2010 (dal segno al coda) 3:33pm At Mission Creek. Just finished up another drafta polish, more likeand sent it off to my agent. I'm hooking up with Marta in a while, and then we're going on KrOB's first Drive-Out Theatre of 2010.
Friday, 29 January 2010 (tentatively post-ouch) 11:12am I had an actual session with Damiel this morning after his abs class. He's moving me off the Fitlinxx machines, which I liked very much because they tell me exactly what to do and what settings to use, and onto more free-weighty kinda stuff. Which is fine, that's mostly what Raphaela and I used to do, except that I won't have him hovering over me all the time to make sure I'm doing it right. Which is kinda scary, but, well, that's progress. At Mocha 101 again. I sent off the latest draft of the manuscript to my agent last night (I have an agent! I'm still excited about that), and I considered taking a break from it, but I'm continuing to poke at it anyway. Like Marta said, you never know what you might uncover if you keep going. It's nice to have a girlfriend who gives a damn.
Thursday, 28 January 2010 (redaction) 10:01am I've been developing acne on my face for the past few months, usually around the bottom of my mouth. Unfortunately, a patch has been on the corner of my mouth for the last week or two, and, ow. It doesn't bother Marta either way, but I still think it makes me look icky. I went to spin class this morningit was the same instructor as Tuesday, and I suspect she's sticking around for a whileand now I'm at Mocha 101. Write, write, write. (Or at least rewrite, rewrite, rewrite.) Tonight, I'm working the door at The Dark Room for Sketchfest, because that's how I help out. I also get a few bucks for it, which helps.
Wednesday, 27 January 2010 (radial intolerance) 1:18pm At Java Beach for what feels like the first time in forever. I'm mostly here because Phoebe is down the street at Eugene's Auto Service. I thought about taking her to one of the remaining Saturn dealerships, but it's just not worth the travel at this point. In the meantime, I see the Java Beach has finally embraced the laptop blight by adding a bunch of power outlets. Good for them. Later today, I pick up Marta from work.
Tuesday, 26 January 2010 (statistical probabilities) 11:17am Cally didn't do the spin class this morning, and judging from the schedule posted outside the room, she won't be back this week. On the plus side, I liked the instructor this morning a lot better than the sub on Saturday, so that's something. Found out last night that this year's Cotillion has been cancelled due to financial reasons, which is a shame. Meanwhile, I've been invited to speak at UC Berkeley's Femsex Trans Panel, which I haven't done for a few years, which is kinda cool. And, after years of meaning to, I've finally ordered a Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Kit. Just in case.
Monday, 25 January 2010 (foreground) 11:48am After lunch at Sun Rise, Marta and I hit Whole Foods (because that's where I get a lot of my stuff), and then went to The Dark Room for Jim's birthday party. It was mostly people who I like seeing, with only one or two whom I don't, which is a pretty good ratio. Marta left before Bad Movie Night, sparing her from seeing Angels and Demons. We got a got a really good turnout, though, and it was a fun night. It was raining this morning, but I made it to Damiel's abs class anyway, because this is the only way it works. 12:22pm Just got out of a staff meeting in which I became aware that I'm the only person in the office (or the world, at this rate) who hasn't seen Avatar.
Sunday, 24 January 2010 (about face) 3:15pm Vegan pupusas (and more) at Sun Rise with Marta. Nom. Working the tech for Sketchfest last night was ultimately fun, though stressy at times. There was a lot to learn in a short period of time, especially since I'm still getting familiar with the soundboard. It also didn't help that two of the groups didn't make it to rehearsal, one of them because they'd also performed on Friday night and weren't informed that there would be a different tech person on Friday, and the other because...well, I don't know why. Sketch comedy groups tend to be flakey as fuck, and I guess they just figured they didn't need to come to rehearse. The net result was that I blew one of their sound cues, but since I didn't get to rehearse nor was I even given a script or cue sheet work from, I don't feel bad at about it. The best part was, Marta was there with me behind the board for the whole show. Just because.
Saturday, 23 January 2010 (walking the walk) 10:33am Wrote for about eight hours at Mocha 101 yesterday, making some sweeping changes to the manuscript, ones that I think will be for best. It'll be a different creature than it was before, which is kinda the point. I'd always felt that the first act was weak and overly exposition-y, and it's a lot better now. Some stories that were being passed over before are being told now, and some are being streamlined. As they should be. Went to Cally's spin class this morning, except it wasn't Cally, it was a substitute. At least, I hope she was a substitute. She was nice enough, but I've already grown fond of Cally and how she runs things. Alas. What's important is the work. I'm at Mission Creek now. Probably gonna write here until two or so, then head to The Dark Room for Sketchfest. And eventually it'll be past midnight and it'll be all over, at least for me. (Not counting possibly working the door next Thursday.) 1:41pm Someday I want to build a statue of a pessimist, just to show to that it can happen.
Friday, 22 January 2010 (costing a nickel ) 9:58am Made it to the gym this morning for Damiel's abs class, where my absence this past Wednesday was noted, and I expect the same may happen at Cally's spin class tomorrow morning. Damiel was good-natured about it, though, and even gave me a copy of a Rolling Stones mix CD that he'd made based partially on my suggestions. (Granted, I had suggested "She Was Hot" and he used "She's So Cold," a common mistake.) Now I'm at Mocha 101, and will be productive.
Thursday, 21 January 2010 (ready, able) 11:12am what part of our history's reinvented and under rug swept? 12:05pm El Niņo, you magnificent bastard. I remember you well.
